Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has received patch 2.5, one of the more substantial updates the PS5 fighter has seen since launch. The patch introduces features that were notably missing at release, most importantly a fully functional ranked online mode, alongside several PS5-specific improvements.

Ranked Mode Finally Arrives

Ranked Mode 1.0 is now live across Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, complete with full cross-platform play. The absence of ranked matchmaking at launch was a point of criticism among players, so this addition addresses one of the bigger gaps in the game’s online offering. Alongside ranked play, the update also brings improvements to cross-platform skill-based matchmaking specifically on PS5, which should lead to fairer and more consistent match quality online.

PS5 Gets a Low Latency Mode

One of the more notable additions exclusive to PS5 is a new Low Latency mode. On top of that, controller latency has been improved more broadly, meaning inputs should feel tighter and more responsive during both online and offline play. For a fighting game where frame-precise inputs matter, these kinds of improvements can make a real difference to how the game feels in practice.

Balance Changes, Animation Updates, and More

Patch 2.5 also includes a range of character and system-level changes. Ozai received additional animation frames across a wide variety of moves, including his Air Throw, Air Super Technique, Counter Pose, Lightning and Air Lightning attacks, several normal moves, jump and crouch animations, throw tech, hitstuns, and crouch block. Zaheer’s Final Technique was also updated – Ghazan now animates differently rather than moving straight upward during the move.

On the systems side, an input buffer has been added for EX and Super techniques when executing them from chains. A bug that removed hitstop from the attacker when hitting certain flow moves with the dodge trigger property has been fixed, and a damage scaling bug affecting certain moves that hit first has also been corrected.

Additional Content and Fixes

The update brings a handful of new content additions as well. A new PAX West Aang Color Drop has been added, and the main menu now lets players reopen the Newsletter using a button prompt. Training mode also gains a new block mode option called “Flow”, with the developers noting more options are on the way.

Several fixes round out the patch. These include corrected colors on window NPCs in the Ba Sing Se stage, a rename of “Bumi (Son)” to “Commander Bumi” in the gallery, and over 204 localization fixes across the game.
