Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s season 1 patch brings back a fan-favorite map

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first season is here and Treyarch has added quite a bit of content to help keep the game fresh. The new patch delivers changes to both zombies and competitive multiplayer including new maps, weapons, and modes.

The new maps are likely the biggest addition of the new season. There are three new 6v6 maps coming in season 1. There’s The Pines, which is set in a 1980s New Jersey mall, Raid, a fan favorite from Black Ops II, and Nuketown ‘84 Holiday, a festively-themed version of Nuketown ‘84. Each of these maps will be available in matchmaking as well as special playlists.

The season 1 patch also adds two new weapons to the game, which can both be unlocked for free just by playing. The Mac-10 is a compact SMG with a high rate-of-fire and can be unlocked by reaching Tier 15 in the free battle pass. Meanwhile the Groza is an assault rifle that’s perfect for close-quarters combat thanks to its quick rate-of-fire and excellent handling. The Groza can be unlocked at Tier 31 of the battle pass.

Finally, there are a few new modes coming in season 1, including the return of Modern Warfare’s immensely popular Gunfight 2v2 mode. There’s also a new mode coming to zombies called Jingle Hells which brings some festive flair to the undead wasteland of Die Maschine.

  • Addressed an issue where the VIP’s third-person model would not match their first-person view during Exfil.

Fireteam

  • Addressed an issue where the Cruise Missile HUD effects would play while in the Fireteam Spawn overhead menu.
