HBO Max will finally be available on Roku starting Dec. 17, WarnerMedia announced Wednesday.
This is particularly big news as WarnerMedia previously announced its plan to release all of its upcoming 2021 titles on HBO Max due to the coronavirus pandemic. This will start with Wonder Woman 1984, which will hit HBO Max on Christmas.
Roku devices already had an HBO channel, which will turn into HBO Max starting Thursday. Customers with existing subscriptions to HBO via Roku will be able to log in using their current credentials to get access to HBO Max, while new customers will be able to subscribe to HBO Max through Roku.
Roku was one of the only remaining streaming platforms to not have HBO Max support, and seeing how Roku has 46 million users, this left a large number of people out of that HBO Max goodness due to a dispute between the platform and WarnerMedia. However, both companies seem to have come to an agreement, putting HBO Max on one of the most popular streaming platforms in time for Wonder Woman 1984. WarnerMedia also released the HBO Max app on PlayStation 5 on Wednesday.
