Metroid Ravenous is officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, launching on 28th January 2027. The game continues Samus Aran’s story following 2021’s Metroid Dread and introduces an ‘eat or be eaten’ mechanic where the bounty hunter can devour enemies. It is a Switch 2 exclusive and sits in the ‘2D’ side of the Metroid series.

Metroid Ravenous Pricing
There are two ways to buy Metroid Ravenous at launch. The physical version costs $69.99 / £58.99, while the digital version through the Nintendo eShop is $59.99 / £49.99 – a $10 / £9 saving if you are happy to go without a physical copy.
If you plan to go digital, make sure any eShop credit you purchase is applied to the correct Nintendo account before buying.
Where To Pre-Order Metroid Ravenous
Pre-orders are live at various retailers now, though stock has been moving fast. The Nintendo Store UK has listings up for both the standard and Special Edition versions, with a queuing system in place on the site. At the time of writing, the Special Edition is listed as ‘out of stock’ on the Nintendo Store UK after briefly showing as ‘available on back order’.

Metroid Ravenous Special Edition – What’s Included?
The Special Edition is the premium physical package and includes two things you cannot get any other way:
- A SteelBook case housing the game
- An exclusive Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo that is not sold separately anywhere
That last point is important – if you want the Metroid Suit Samus amiibo, the Special Edition is the only way to get it. There is no standalone retail listing for that figure.
Stock for the Special Edition sold out quickly at launch, so if you see it available at any retailer, it is worth acting fast. We will flag any restock news as it comes through.
All Three Metroid Ravenous amiibo
Nintendo is releasing three new amiibo figures to accompany Metroid Ravenous. Here is the full breakdown:
- Samus amiibo – the standard Samus figure, available to buy separately
- Chozo Statue amiibo – a large figure, available to buy separately
- Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo – exclusive to the Special Edition bundle, not sold on its own

If you would rather skip physical retail entirely, the digital version of Metroid Ravenous is available for $59.99 / £49.99 through the Nintendo eShop. That is a notable price difference compared to the physical copy, so it is worth factoring in if you do not need a box or cartridge.
Just be sure any eShop credit or gift cards are loaded onto the Nintendo account you actually use to buy the game. Applying credit to the wrong account is a common mistake that can cause headaches at checkout.
