Heatran is back in Pokémon Go’s tier five raids until Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. in your local time.
The fire- and steel-type Legendary is a pretty good fire-type attacker, but is outclassed by the usual fire-types we love, like Moltres or Chandelure.
For the first time, Shiny Heatran has a chance to show up after you’ve finished the battle. You can see the difference between the normal and Shiny variant below.
To grab your very own Heatrean, use fighting-, ground-, or water-type moves. It actually has a doubled weakness to ground-type moves, so those are your best bet. We recommend the following:
- Groudon with Mud Shot and Earthquake
- Excadrill with Mud Slap and Drill Run
- Swampert with Mud Shot and Earthquake
- Golurk with Mud Slap and Earth Power
If you’re lucky enough to have a Garchomp, set one up with Mud Shot and Earthquake and definitely use that.
After grabbing your Heatran, set it up with Fire Spin and Flamethrower to maximize its DPS capabilities in raids and gyms.
